On the occasion of Tianjin University's (hereafter called TJU) 128th anniversary celebration, the College of Management and Economics (hereafter called CoME) also received good news. Qi Ke-zhan, an 1989 alumnus of the Department of Technical Economics and Systems Engineering in CoME, has reached an intention to establish a 1 million yuan "Qi Ke Zhan Scholarship" in the college. The establishment of this scholarship aims to encourage outstanding students to work harder and provide strong support for their academic path.
Qi Ke-zhan graduated from the Department of Technical Economics and Systems Engineering at TJU in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Technical Economics and a Double Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications. He is currently serving as the chairman, president, and chief investment officer of Beijing Headquarter of Merger China Group (hereafter called BMCG). His academic years were filled with exploration and innovation, and his love for academic research and solid professional foundation laid a solid foundation for his future development. "TJU is a great engineering university, and its motto of seeking truth from facts has had a profound impact on me." Every time Qi Ke-zhan mentioned his alma mater, he talked about its rigorous and pragmatic academic style and relentless pursuit of excellence. This spirit has always permeated his subsequent studies and work. After graduating from TJU, Qi Ke-zhan continued his studies, exploring Wall Street, visiting international prestigious universities, obtaining the highest degree, and winning multiple IPO awards. He successively worked at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Goldman Sachs, and China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC).
In 2013, Qi Ke-zhan keenly observed the enormous potential of investment and capital markets and founded BMCG. In the corporate culture of BMCG, it is not difficult to see the shadow of TJU's character. MCG means "Committed to being premier in China with excellent services". It is a boutique investment bank and consulting firm rooted in China, with a global perspective and international standards, focusing on difficult and complex capital operations, corporate strategy, and value investment. Its corporate culture of "Integrity, Creativity, Excellence, Efficiency" coincides with the TJU character, which adheres to the mission of "building a strong country through education", the motto of "seeking truth from facts", the spirit of "precision in learning and strictness in teaching", the tradition of "patriotism and dedication", and the pursuit of "determination and innovation", fully reflecting the subtle influence on alumni.
"On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the CoME, I am glad to be able to give back and do some things that alumni should do." He remembered the wonderful time he had during his studies at CoME. In addition to this generous donation, he also frequently pays attention to the education cause of his alma mater. Previously, he donated the "Qi Ke Zhan Audio and Video Appreciation Room" to the library of the TJU Peiyang Campus. He also plans to return to his alma mater to deliver special lectures, etc., to share experiences and answer questions for the students.
Alumus Qi Ke-zhan has taken action, actively nurtured and supported the construction of his alma mater. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to our alumnus Qi Ke-zhan for his sincere concern and positive reward towards the university and the college.
Over the years, the development of CoME has received strong support from alumni both at home and abroad. Alumni from all over the world are eagerly interested in the construction of the college, providing various types of support in talent cultivation, discipline development, award and scholarship, innovation and entrepreneurship, and industry-university-institute cooperation. The college nourishes alumni, and alumni also feed the college in return, just like water and fish. The selfless dedication of alumni has contributed to the rapid development of the college. 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the CoME. With the support of our alumni, the college will surely be able to create new glory and build another brilliant future.
