The past year was a milestone year for Shenzhen School of Management, College of Management and Economics (CoME), Tianjin University (TJU). The school was inaugurated in Shenzhen in May 2021, marking the official establishment of the school brand in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
At the beginning of its establishment, the school shouldered the task of empowering local talent construction, closely focused on the development needs of the GBA, held activities such as the GBA Talent Development Forum, actively promoted the construction of the industry university research base, and strengthened the close link with the industry.
On November 11, the school turned eyes to Tencent, a young and vigorous company at the age of 24.
On the 24th anniversary of Tencent, more than 70 faculty members and students from the MBA, EMBA and MEM programs of Shenzhen School of Management of the CoME in TJU gathered together to enter Tencent's global headquarters - Shenzhen Binhai Mansion.
This also means that the first stop of the professional degree training characteristic module " Insight into Greater Bay Area Industry", "Entering Tencent - Organizational Change and Digital Transformation in the Post epidemic Era", was officially opened. The students formed a closed loop by three links including visiting and learning, precipitating insights, and reviewing exchanges, which comprehensively strengthened their knowledge of industrial leading enterprises.
Wang Xiaofeng, a 2008 MBA alumnus of TJU and the general manager of Qianfan Commercialization Government and Enterprise Center of Tencent Enterprise Mid Platform Product Department, welcomed the visit of the faculty and students.
Mr. Fu, senior product manager of Tencent, gave a lecture entitled "Tencent Strategy and Organizational Thinking". From mobile internet to industrial internet, and from network collaboration to agile closed-loop, Tencent, as an Internet giant, has demonstrated its adherence to long-term principles and technology.
Mr. Yu, Tencent's management consulting director, gave a lecture entitled "Strategic thinking and practice of enterprise digital transformation". He shared that Tencent, as a digital "native" enterprise, has actively entered the second half of the Internet through numerous restructuring of its technology, business and organization. He also elaborated on the exploration and practice cases in which Tencent joined hands with many partners to promote the realization of high-quality development under the concept of openness, sharing and innovation.
In addition to two wonderful lectures, faculty and students of Shenzhen School of Management also visited Tencent Binhai Exhibition Hall. In the exhibition hall, Tencent's 24 years of growth has been presented in a multi-dimensional way. Student
s have closely felt the evolution and development of Tencent's Internet products and multiple businesses, experienced the great changes from the era of mobile Internet to the era of industrial Internet, and actually understood Tencent’s staged fierce struggle, reform and innovation, as well as the wisdom of " steady and sustained development".
At the end of the visit, the students expressed that the trip was worthwhile, and that they could continue to precipitate their own thinking and form their own "insights". As a representative enterprise in the Internet industry, Tencent has played a leading role for many enterprises in the "digital" transformation. Its continuous iterative innovation capabilities and the underlying strategy and organizational logic are worth learning from in many industries. The students were able to understand "reform and innovation" in the context of their own industries and positions, which not only expanded their knowledge but also broadened their thinking.
"Entering Tencent" is a successful exploration and practice of the joint training between schools and enterprises. Shenzhen School of Management successfully make good use of “mobile classroom” to break the limitations of traditional education forms, which on the one hand increased the communication between students and enterprises and broadened the vision of professional degree students, on the other hand, promoted the communication, accommodation and inspiration among faculty and students.
The industry insight module is a key part of the professional degree characteristic module of Shenzhen School of Management. In view of the characteristics of GBA, the school selected the leading enterprises in the industry in a targeted way, formed a closed loop through three links of visit and learning, precipitating insight, and reviewing exchanges to deepen the students' understanding of the industry and social macro level from multiple perspectives, and improve the students' control of their own experience and future from multiple dimensions. Shenzhen School of Management adheres to the principle that From practice to practice, empowering students to plan their personal career and develop their enterprises. This was also an innovative exploration of the professional degree talent cultivation mode focusing on the cultivation of practical ability and the integration of industries and education.
In the future, Shenzhen School of Management will continue to make efforts in the construction of industry-university-research, as well as deeply implement the integration of industry and education, explore a collaborative education system with the characteristics of the GBA, and enhance the influence of CoME of TJU in the GBA.
