In 2020, the practice team Weiyang Jingxin·Fengming Jinyu (which means sending beautiful wishes from TJU to Fengyu Town) of the College of Management and Economics (CoME) of Tianjin University (TJU) launched the online volunteer teaching. Under the leadership of Teacher Ma Yan-nan, 16 students worked together to bring a series of elaborately designed courses to children in Shengzhou, Zhejiang Province on mid-July, and Fengyu Town, Dali, Yunnan Province from August 10 to 19.
Shengzhou, Zhejiang
In 2015 and the 120th anniversary of the founding of TJU, the faculty and students of CoME went to Shengzhou, Zhejiang province and built a " Tianma Care" house for Xia-Wang Town Middle School donated by the alumni. This year, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the founding of TJU, the practice team provided online support education for the children of Xia Wang Town Middle School for 5 days in late July.
Feng Yu, Yunnan
Due to the impact of the COVID-19, the practice team adopted the new form of "online + offline" in Yunnan Fengyu Training Camp, and tried their best to bring voluntary teaching to the children in such a special period. The practice team mailed the course materials prepared in advance to Yunnan and distributed them to the children with the help of Principal Yang Tao of Fengyu No. 1 Middle School.
At 9:00 am on August 10th, the opening ceremony of 2020 Fengyu Online Training Camp in Yunnan was held on time. People from all over the world gathered in the same online conference room. Over the next 10 days, the practice team brought lessons in music, painting, the history of science and technology, Chinese culture, literature, and speech skills. When children had questions about the course of the day, they could directly ask the teacher of the corresponding course through WeChat group. Teachers would also share courseware and teaching videos to the group, so as to maximize the utilization of educational resources.
On August 18th, the practice team members Zhu Bei, Miao Yi-lin, Xu Yang, Fan Ke and Zhou Tian-cheng went to Yunnan to take an offline course for the children, and achieved the face-to-face communication and interaction with the children. They led the children to conduct the rehearsal and preparation of the camp closing ceremony. Both the children and the team members gained a lot from this experience.
