Liu Zi-zheng, a 2016 undergraduate in Engineering Management of the College of Management and Economics (CoME), winner of the first prize of the National Mathematics Competition Finals, the youngest Outstanding Student Model of Tianjin University (TJU) and the winner of highest honor scholarship of TJU. Liu’s GPA is 93.72, with his scores of 31 professional courses all above 95. Liu has been recommended for a Ph.D. at Tsinghua University.
When Liu first came to TJU, he chose Engineering Management as his future development direction.
he gradually developed a strong interest in Engineering Management. Liu hopes to devote himself to the construction of international projects such as the “Belt and Road Initiative” and use his knowledge to serve the country and transform society.
With his superior learning ability, Liu got a perfect transcript. However, he was not content to confine himself to books. He went to the construction site for internships in the winter and summer vacations and witnessed the dexterous skills of the engineers. During the internship, Liu had a deeper understanding of the knowledge in the books and broadened his horizons. Liu said: "The greater the difficulties are, the more exciting I will be. Because difficulties are the best opportunities for growth." It is very difficult to obtain admission to Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, but Liu passed Tsinghua University’s assessment to experience the new challenges of doctoral students.
Liu has a strong interest in mathematics. He realizes that in the future, with the gradual development of computer intelligence, mathematics will become more and more important as the basis of intelligence and calculation. Liu has also been questioned about how well a person who learns management can learn mathematics? But Liu has won many awards in the field of mathematics, which highlighted his talent.
In addition to professional knowledge, Liu did not forget to improve his literary accomplishment. There are more than 300 books in Liu’s dormitory. He prefers to read ancient poetry written by modern poets. From the ups and downs of the poet's life, he got a lot of power to solve the problems encountered in real life.
Besides, Liu minored in finance at Nankai University. Under the guidance of Wang Xue-qing, Professor of CoME, Liu led the team to explore the typical lifeline system coupling risk of the Beijing Winter Olympics. Under the guidance of the teacher at Nankai University, he thought of the research methods of his major in a new way and innovatively researched financial risks with the help of GS and spatial measurement methods.
