On February 13, 2019, the College of Management and Economics of Tianjin University received an official notice from the headquarter of the Association of MBAs (AMBA) that the college will be granted an international certificate of accreditation with a longest period of 5 years without any conditions.

During November 19 to 20, 2018, the College of Management and Economics of Tianjin University welcomed the re-accreditation of MBA/EMBA/MPA programs by the accreditation experts from AMBA. The re-accreditation expert group is composed of Andrew Lock, Honorary Professor of Business School of Leeds University, Robert O'Connor, Executive Director of the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Graduate School of Business (GSB) and for QUTeX, Zhong-ming Wang, Senior Professor of Liberal Arts of Zhejiang University, and George Iliev, Director of Development Markets of AMBA.
Deng-hua Zhong, President of Tianjin University, and Jian-jun Li, Secretary of the CPC of Tianjin University met with the accreditation experts. Gang Zheng, Executive Associate Dean of the Graduate School, Zhen Zhang, Director of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, Lian-zhong Li，CPC Party Chief of CoME, Bao-feng Huo, Dean of CoME, Shou-feng Ma , Executive Dean, and other officials attended the meeting.

According to the expert group, Tianjin University is the first modern university in China with a long history. They learned about the future strategies of the university, such as the double-class construction and the development of new engineering. It is expected that international experience can be brought to Tianjin University through the re-accreditation.
The expert group comprehensively evaluated the MBA/EMBA/MPA program in mission, strategic positioning, talent cultivation characteristics and quality assurance system. The strategic adjustment and achievements made by the college after the first accreditation were fully affirmed.
AMBA accreditation experts meet with employers and alumni representatives
Founded in the UK in 1967, AMBA is an independent organization that specializes in the quality certification of MBA program. AMBA is an international accreditation system for MBA programs of business schools. It is one of the world's three major business education accreditation organizations and one of the most authoritative management education accreditation systems in the world.
Tianjin University passed the five-year AMBA accreditation in November 2013. In the past five years, CoME has adhered to the international accreditation standards, constantly improved and innovated the MBA/EMBA/MPA program, and focused on optimizing the course setting so as to constantly improving the international level, and strengthening the "double first-class" construction of the university.
The AMBA, known as the Association of MBAs, was founded in 1967. Along with the AACSB and EQUIS, it is also one of the three authoritative international accreditation systems for business schools in the world. AMBA is the only MBA-specific accreditation organization. It is a passport to become an internationally renowned business school. Its membership covers all the important stakeholders of the MBA program, including well-known business schools, MBA students, alumni and employers.
Tianjin University is the first university in China to submit the three programs of MBA, EMBA and MPA for accreditation at the same time, and all of them have passed the five-year accreditation and re-accreditation. According to the staff of AMBA headquarters, it is common to apply for AMBA accreditation through a single MBA program or two programs with high correlation. But it is rare globally for three programs to be accredited at the same time.
By February 2019, 36 business schools in mainland China have passed the AMBA accreditation.
