Tianjin University MBA/EMBA/MPA Project Accepts AMBA's Field Assessment on Recertification

  On November 19th, 2018, College of Management and Economics (CoME) of Tianjin University (TJU) welcomed AMBA's (Association of MBAs) experts to re-certificate the MBA/EMBA/MPA project. The re-accreditation expert panel is composed of Andrew Lock, former dean of the Business School of the University of Leeds, Robert O'Connor, executive dean of the Business School of Queensland University of Technology, Chong-ming Wang, senior professor of liberal arts of Zhejiang University, and George Iliev, director of international market development of AMBA.

  Jiajun Li, secretary of the Party Committee of TJU and Denghua Zhong, president of TJU met with these experts, and conducted in-depth discussions and communication with them. Gang Zheng, executive deputy dean of Graduate School of TJU, Zhen Zhang, director of Office of International Cooperation of TJU, Qi Wei, director of Graduate School Training Office of TJU, Lianzhong Li, secretary of the Party Committee of CoME, Baofeng Huo, dean of CoME, and Shoufeng Ma, executive deputy director of CoME attended the meeting.

  Experts firstly mentioned that Tianjin University is the first modern university in China, with a long history. Through the talks, they learned about Tianjin University's future strategies, such as the construction of “double first-class” and the development of emerging engineering, and felt that faculties and students are full of ambition for future development. Finally, they expressed their hope that the opportunity of re-accreditation would bring some international experience to Tianjin University and help it develop better in the future.

  During the two-day assessment, the re-accreditation expert panel held extensive discussions with the school leaderships, employer representatives, outstanding alumni representatives, project management teams, students and alumni representatives, teachers representatives, etc. Besides, they carefully consulted a large number of materials related to teaching, scientific research and project management. At the same time, they made inspections of teaching facilities and the office environment. The experts comprehensively evaluated the MBA/EMBA/MPA project of Tianjin University and the mission, vision, strategic positioning, management processes, marketing, personnel training characteristics, student alumni service and quality assurance system of CoME. In addition, they fully affirmed the strategic adjustment and achievements made by the CoME in the five years since the first time MBA/EMBA/MPA project had been certified.

  Shuxin Wang, vice president of TJU and Gang Zheng participated in the feedback section of the results of AMBA certification, and expressed their gratitude on behalf of TJU for the work of these experts.

  AMBA is an independent organization specializing in project quality certification of MBA, which was established in the UK in 1967. AMBA certification is an international certification system for MBA programs of business schools. It is one of the three major business education certification organizations in the world and one of the most authoritative management education certification systems in the world.

  Tianjin University successfully passed the AMBA five-year certification in November 2013. Over the past five years, CoME has consistently upheld the idea of running MBA/EMBA/MPA projects on the basis of international accreditation standards and guided by the mission. Focusing on the optimization of the curriculum and the concise training of characteristics, and constantly improving the level of internationalization, CoME is contributing to the "double first-class" construction of TJU.
