IACMR Research Methods Seminar Held in Tianjin University

　　From Jul. 12th to 16th, hosted by IACMR, CoME hosted the Year 2015 of IACMR Research Methods Seminar at Tianjin University.

　　IACMR Research Methods Seminar aims at providing guidance on how to find research projects, how to conduct high-quality research for Chinese teachers, researchers and PhD students engaging in the study of management science, to expect more to Chinese management research knowledge and practice to make more world-class contribution. At the same time, it also introduced the use of research methods in high-quality design of research project, which provides opportunities for domestic teachers, researchers and PhD students to exchanges minds and establish connections with world-class management scholars. This seminar has been held for seven times, which has trained more than 500 personnel in Management Studies.

　　This seminar employed tutors, including Prof. Zhou Xueguang from Stanford University, Prof. Chen Zhaoquan of Rutgers University, Prof. Chen Xiaoping of University of Washington, Prof. Li Haiyang and Zhou Jing of Rice University, Prof. Zhang Zhen and Prof. Shen Wei of Arizona State University, Prof. Lu Jiangyong and Prof. Zhang Yan of Peking University, Prof. Fan Jingli and Prof. He Jinyu of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Huang Xu of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Prof. Jian Liangding of Nanjing University and Prof. Liang Jian of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and shared their own research experience with all representatives. There are 135 representatives from 50 universities of Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong participated in this seminar.

　　At the opening ceremony, Prof. Li Minjiang, Deputy Dean of CoME, to delegates welcomed and introduced relevant information about CoME. After that, Prof. Fan Jingli introduced the basic situation of IACMR and this seminar. Dean of CoME, Prof. Zhang Wei and all tutors attended the opening ceremony.

　　Within four days of meetings, 14 mentors brought to all participants with 14 splendid reports, they discussed issues, for instance, "history of scientific research", "how to find research questions", "how to build theories and hypotheses," "How to carry out qualitative and quantitative research" and "the spirit of scientific research and ethical". Meanwhile, delegates were divided into 14 groups, led by a mentor; each group discussed their research proposals. After several days of intense discussion, the representative of each group picked out the most representative proposal and reported to the meeting. Against the content of the report, mentors made comments and proposed further amendments of these proposals. This seminar sparked national media attention, Sina made an interview to Prof. Chen Xiaoping, from University of Washington, discussed about the integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, Tianjin Free Trade Zone and other issues. Professor Chen Xiaoping believes that both the construction of the integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and the Tianjin Free Trade Area call for high-level management talents. The purpose of the organization of IACMR seminar is focusing on training high-level Chinese management talents.

　　In addition, Professor Chen Xiaoping also elaborated her views on entrepreneurship of college students and the required knowledge of management in innovation. On the closing ceremony of the seminar, Chairman of International Society for Chinese Management Research (IACMR), Professor Fan Jingli and Professor Li Minjiang together awarded diplomas for the group members. Professor Fan Jingli expressed his particular thanks to CoME, for its contribution as the organizer of this successful seminar.
