Led by Prof. David Schoorman, Associate Dean of Krannert School of Management, Purdue University, students in IMM program arrived at China and started their two-week learning of module course in China.
On October 11, senior managers from different industries of several countries, for instance, United States, Hungary, Brazil, Netherlands and China, and two well-known professors at Purdue University, a total of 24 people arrived at Shanghai for a one-week learning of international management course and enterprises visit. During this period, more than ten outstanding entrepreneurs’ alumni representatives of Tianjin University Alumni Association of Shanghai were involved in the learning and exchange activity of IMM program.
In the morning of Oct. 19th, students of IMM program visited Tianjin University. On behalf of College of Management and Economics, Associate Dean, Professor HE Zhen welcomed all students of 2014 IMM and introduced the history, development and future vision of CoME. Prof. He introduced as following, as China's first modern university - Tianjin University, has always attached importance to recruit and cultivate international talents. The highly internationalized IMM program came to visit TJU will play a greater positive role in promoting the global perspective of CoME. Meanwhile, we hope IMM students can take this opportunity to learn more about China and understand TJU. On 3 pm, students of IMM visited the History Museum of Tianjin University; through explain of narrator, which makes them fell the deeper intuition of historical heritage of this 100-year-old university.
At 6 pm, students of IMM program and entrepreneurs from United States, Germany and several presidents of European Union Chambers of Commerce got together and fully exchanged opinions at Qing Wangfu Tianjin, discussed on the topics related to economy, culture, business and investment. At the conference, Dean of CoME, Professor Zhang Wei gave a welcome speech. He expressed that this is the third year for Tianjin University as a program partner to welcome students in IMM program from all over the world, and learning Chinese module is the last one among all five modules of IMM program, which means that with the completion of China study tour, students will graduate from this program. As all students in IMM program have achieved greater success in their career and everyone in his spare time has completed study with amazing perseverance, this is really worthy of admiration. Through participating in the high-end program with world-class universities, and the three-year cooperation with other partners like Purdue, CoME learned a lot from our peers in market promotion, service conduction, student cultivation and other aspects, which is an important practice in the implementation of internationalization strategy.
Associate Dean of Krannert School of Management, Purdue University, Prof. David Schoorman gave a high appraise of this reception activity TJU did. He said that this is the third time he visited Tianjin University and the city Tianjin. As I have seen, Tianjin University is a strong partner in the world in terms of the IMM program of Purdue University. We have reason to believe that, in China, Tianjin University is our best and only partner. I fully look forward to next year’s visit to China and came to Tianjin University.
On Oct 20th, students in IMM program visited the well-known enterprises in Tianjin Tasly Holding Group, E-commerce Industrial Park in Wuqing and ASIMCO Technologies (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., and communicate and hold exchange meetings with leaders of enterprises, to fully understand current situations of several Chinese domestic enterprises.
From Oct. 21st to 24th, IMM students visited Beijing, through this three-day course study, can have a good opportunity to better understand the current situation of Chinese enterprises and future development prospects by analyzing cases of Younger, Huawei and other Chinese companies.
At the end of this two-week study in China modules, the students said that their trip to China bring them not only just knowledge, but give them a chance to understand the rapid rise of a developing country in the courses, and understand China's future development opportunities. To summarize up their feel of this China trip, in one sentence, that is “We love China”.
