A Case Study: More closely linked Northeast Asia Energy Cooperation

Around 2005, there is a lot of discussion on energy cooperation in Northeast Asia. For the development of these years, it mainly consists of two parts: oil and gas pipelines and Northeast Asia Super Grid.

Via oil and gas pipelines, the abundant oil and gas resources in Russia is primarily delivered to China, Japan and South Korea and other consumer countries. At present, the oil pipeline between China and Russia has been stably operated. Because of strait obstacles, Russia with Japan, South Korea and North Korea is still under discussion.
Northeast Asia Super Grid delivered desert solar energy in Mongolia and hydropower in Russia to China, Japan and South Korea.

Russia, Mongolia, Korea, Japan and China have studied the Northeast Asian Super Grid project for several years, but its in the slow progress, and been shelved because of international political instability.

Overall, the Northeast Asian Energy Cooperation Organization, although the degree of concern has increased, but the potential of regional cooperation is far from being effective play, multilateral cooperation is still very weak.

Building Global Energy Internet: to Eliminate Misunderstanding, Enhancing Mutual Trust Global energy Internet was initiated by President Xi Jinping, the State Grid Corporation is the major force to promote it, and the next few years is a critical period, except for technical aspects, other challenges are still huge, and the first issues are public pressure and political trust.

How to deal with it?

Therefore, the need to improve building of global energy Internet and the economic and strategic significance of cognition, there is much work to be done.

In recent years, with regard to electricity reform, about UHV, the country has been controversial; in the State Grid Corporation to promote led Global Energy Internet of electricity price monopoly might be voices of doubt are also present. This also side shows the public did not fully understand the Internet and related global energy and technology. Talking about UHV, this has been disputed for many years. Now, in the production and consumption of energy, it changes the background, the scientific developed UHV has been set the tone, and incorporated into the "Thirteen five-year" plan.

Questioned by overseas government, they mainly focused on energy security. Like the Internet, the global Internet will face the problem of energy security. It is confirmed that the current Internet's benefits are much greater than the disadvantages. The role of global energy Internet can be regarded the same, global warming, smog invasion has seriously interfered with our lives, enhancing green development, and low-carbon development and sustainable development have become a global consensus. Because of security concerns to give up yearning for green life, it is no doubt unworthy, and with UHV and smart grid technology development and maturity, we prevent and control energy security risks will continue to enhance the ability.

The second is to strengthen political mutual trust, the establishment of relevant international organizations as soon as possible, and clarify programmatic document.

The global energy Internet is one of the few international cooperation projects initiated by the Chinese government, which serves global green development, but it also possesses huge potential economic benefits, intertwined with political gambling.

Undoubtedly, the global energy Internet cannot be achieved instantly from strategic concept to joint action. China can treats building the global energy Internet as a starting point, initiatives to establish relevant cooperation organizations, and form a programmatic document similar to the Global Energy Charter as soon as possible; at the same time, China should strengthen political mutual trust between countries, so that regional energy cooperation can cross institutional barriers for building a global energy Internet, and provide an institutional guarantee.
